Study: Colistin resistance evolution in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
show Abstracthide Abstract
Colistin is a last resort antibiotic commonly used against multi-resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. To investigate the potential for in-situ evolution of resistance against colistin and the molecular correlates of colistin resistance, we selected for colistin resistance using a continuous culture device known as morbidostat. Colistin resistance emerged within 2-3 weeks along with highly stereotypic mutation patterns.
